The June issues of Wine Spectator will showcase newly released scores for the Il Poggione 2011 Brunello and the 2010 Brunello ‘Vigna Paganelli’ Riserva.  It is an honor to receive these scores, and we look forward to reading more in the coming issues of Wine Spectator.

91 points IL POGGIONE Brunello di Montalcino 2011

A beefy style, evoking plum, leather, tobacco and earth flavors, backed by dense, dusty tannins. Starts out juicy before the gruff finish takes over. Fresh and long. Best from 2018 through 2027.–BS

94 points IL POGGIONE Brunello di Montalcino ‘Vigna Paganelli’ Riserva 2010

A dense, powerful version, packed with cherry, plum, herb, earth and underbrush flavors. Vibrant, showing solid grip, this ends with echoes of fruit, earth and tobacco. Best from 2019 through 2032.—B.S.
